Festival Loudspeaker
After a frustrating experience at Roskilde Festival in 2018 — where I shared a camp with two poorly built speakers (one that died on day one due to extreme power inefficiency, and another that was so unbalanced it needed a sock stuffed into the tweeter to reduce the output) — I decided to build something better. Something festival-proof. Something legendary.
The result: a custom-built, high-efficiency speaker system designed to deliver 60–80 hours of insane sound, complete with LED dance lighting to bring the party to life. My goal was to make a loudspeaker that didn’t just survive RF — it owned it.
This beast connects via Bluetooth or AUX, with support for splitting output to up to five devices. It's powered by dual swappable 95Ah batteries, meaning you can party nonstop without the need to recharge during the entire festival. In fact, it’s consistently finished each Roskilde with 15–35% battery remaining.
For convenience and security, the system includes wireless charging, dual USB-A ports, a locked battery and control box, and GPS tracking via AirTags. It’s been put to the test at Roskilde Festival in 2019, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, and it just keeps going.
Along the way, some parts broke — particularly the membrane shields — so I designed and 3D printed stronger replacements in ABS, chosen for its UV resistance and ductile strength, making it perfect for outdoor abuse. The original design was built onto a cheap trolley, but after two trolleys broke, I ended up welding a custom steel frame to support the entire unit — rock-solid and ready for anything.
This project started with a bad speaker experience and turned into one of my most durable, powerful, and rewarding builds.
